EVENT DESCRIPTION
Heavy monsoon rains in July and August 2010 caused devastating floods to sweep across Pakistan throughout the summer months and into September. The floods have killed thousands of people and displaced millions more, resulting in economic and political instability. The desperate need for humanitarian aid to Pakistan continues, as does the country’s fight against Taliban insurgency. With far-reaching and long-lasting consequences, the floods demonstrate the precarious relationship between natural disasters and political fallout. Join our distinguished panelists as they present three unique perspectives on the Pakistan floods and discuss how to appropriately address the social, political and economic needs of the Pakistani people.
