A CALL TO ACTION

This is a crucial time for not only the Pakistani nation, but the entire world.  Why? Because the gradual loss of global support and recovery aid in Pakistan can lead to extremist groups stepping in and providing the needed assistance and winning loyalty and approval of the millions who are embarking on a very difficult and daunting road to recovery. Some believe there is a risk that this disaster may further destabilize Pakistan’s already fragile democracy to a point that jeopardizes the security of the rest of the world.
We must continue to do our part to help the people of Pakistan who are suffering in a catastrophe of this magnitude. Hashoo Foundation plans to be actively involved in the continuous recovery, rehabilitation and rebuilding process of the affected areas.
I urge you to continue supporting the Hashoo Foundation’s efforts to provide hope and humanitarian relief to the women, men and children displaced by the floods in Pakistan.

Together we make a difference!

Cristal Montañéz Baylor a former Miss Venezuela, runway, print and television model, is the Executive Director of the Hashoo Foundation, USA, a non-profit organization committed to empowering communities to be independent by facilitating opportunities through economic development, education and skills development, supporting people with special needs and providing emergency relief and social welfare. Cristal leads the initiatives to promote Hashoo Foundation’s Women's Empowerment through Honey Bee Farming Project Plan Bee - winner of the prestigious BBC/Newsweek World Challenge Competition and a Clinton Global Initiative featured Commitment.
The project empowers women in the remote areas of northern Pakistan by expanding employment opportunities and generating a stable source of income through the sale of high-quality honey. Plan Bee was based on a system of social barter, designed to promote social change. Hashoo Foundation buys the beekeepers' honey and successfully links them to the lucrative markets of 5-Star hotels and grocery stores in Pakistan provided that the families agree to send their children to quality schools, have regular health check-ups and improve nutrition at home. Cristal believes that expanding income generating programs will strengthen the communities and help prevent the influence of extremism in Pakistan.
Cristal is a dedicated public servant and humanitarian who is very passionate about her work promoting democracy and freedom. RE-OPENING CEREMONY OF THE HASHOO FOUNDATION SCHOOL IN NOWSHERA KALAN

Distribution of Books, Shoes, Teddy Bears & Dresses to 200 Children and 65 Orphans at the Newly Renovated Hashoo Foundation School
During our visit to Nowshera,  we participated in the re-opening ceremony of the newly renovated Hashoo Foundation Schools in Nowshera Kalan. The Schools were severely damaged during the floods.  The renovation and re-equipping, including the uniforms and books distributed in the  two schools in Nowshera  were funded entirely by the Al Mahmood Foundation (AMF) based in the UK. The children loved the teddy bears donated by Good Bears of the World  as part of Bear Hugs for Pakistan. Immediately, almost like magic, the new furry friends provided comfort and smiles to the girls and boys lessening some of the psychological trauma caused by the disaster. Additionally, we distributed dresses donated by Dress a Girl Around the World Houston. The dresses were a great a hit!! The young Pakistani girls loved their new and much needed dresses. The families are very thankful to the young girls and women in Houston who with lots of love and good wishes stitched these beautiful dresses for their friends in Pakistan.
