PRESENTATION FLOOD PAKISTAN 2010

Presentation Flood Pakistan 2010
A children's hospital and maternal child healthcare center was inaugurated at District Headquarters (DHQ) Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) on August 31, 2010 for the flood victims.

This 20 bed facility opened its doors flood victims on September 1, 2010, where they will receive free consultation and medical supplies free of cost 24 hours, in addition to in-patient care.

This is a joint initiative between the Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA), Shine Humanity and Hashoo Foundation in support from Shifa International Hospital, CDRS, IDRF and Department of Health, Government of Pakistan.
In partnership with the Hashoo Group of hotels, Hashoo Foundation has distributed over 1,000 food parcels to the flood affected families. According to Tahir Shah, “two truckloads of dry rations consisting of essential items of daily use like flour, pulses, sugar, rice, cooking oil and tea, etc., were purchased, duly packed and transported to the worst affected area of Muzaffargar and Kot Addu. We were able to distribute the rations in a very orderly manner to the families of the area. The food parcels will last a family of 5-6 members about a week. People of the area were very appreciative. The biggest satisfaction is that every item was delivered to the most deserving. We obtained help from the Army teams to ascertain the neediest. We owe special thanks to Brig (r) Akram. Without his help this effort was at a great risk of being wasted because of the looting. His suggestion and guidance actually prevented this from happening.”

Our immediate goal is to raise funds for $75,000 to provide nutritious food parcels to another 1000 families. Each food parcel has a cost of $75 and will provide a month supply for a family of 5-7 of the following food items: 8 Kg lentils, 10 Kg rice, 4 Kg channay (energy food), 27 packages of milk, 2 Kg dates, 2 boxes of tea, 4 anti-bacterial soaps, 20 packages ORS, biscuits, water, cooking oil, spices, sugar, match boxes and medicine kits.

Hashoo Foundation's school in Nowshera Kalan was severely damaged during the floods. Fortunately, there were no casualties, although classes have been suspended and an assessment for rebuilding certain sections of the schools is underway.

To show our commitment to the local community Hashoo Foundation visited the school on August 15, 2010 and distributed food and essential items to the flood affected families. Hashoo Foundation realizes the desperate situated of the flood victims and the importance of providing essential items to them immediately. Therefore, any donations in cash or in kind are being used timely and effectively.
