HASHOO FOUNDATION COMPETING FOR THE WORLD CHALLENGE 08 AWARD

Presentation of the BBC World News World Challenge 08 Documentary “Plan Bee” Hashoo Foundation’s Women Empowerment through Honey Bee Farming Project in the Northern Areas of Pakistan was held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Rice University McMurtrey Auditorium in Duncan Hall at Rice University. It was hosted by the Consul General of Pakistan in Houston Mr. Muhammad Aqil Nadeem and Mrs. Nadeem.

Hashoo Foundation USA presents World Challenge 08 Documentary “Plan Bee”
The Consulate of Pakistan Houston with other philanthropists had a presentation of the BBC World News World Challenge 08 Documentary “Plan Bee”. The documentary is featuring Hashoo Foundation’s Women Empowerment through honeybee farming projects.
Present at the gathering was guest speaker for the evening Andrew Cote, Executive Director of Bees Without Borders and Cristal Montanez Baylor, Executive Director of the Hashoo Foundation, USA.
Cristal is a former Miss Venezuela and runway model, today she is a philanthropist.
The Women’s Empowerment through Honey Bee Farming Project earns Hashoo Foundation a finalist selection in the BBC World and Newsweek World Challenge 2008, announces the organization, demonstrating it is enterprising and innovative at a grass root level while preserving the Earth in the Northern Areas and Chitral in Pakistan.
The evening was quite engaging with some information about bee keeping by Andrew and the documentary “Plan Bee” was definetely inspiring as commented by the audience.
The audience was also encouraged to “Vote” for Hashoo Foundation on the World Challenge 08. The voting ends on November 21, 2008 so those interested can visit here.

Cristal Montañéz Baylor, former Miss Venezuela, runway, print and television model, is the Executive Director of Hashoo Foundation, USA, Cristal Montanez Baylor a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization chartered in Houston,TX, with the mission of alleviating poverty through economic self-sustenance and education.
The Women Empowerment through Honey project is one of various strategies that are being developed to fulfill the founding philanthropic principles of the Hashoo Foundation in Pakistan and beyond.
Hashoo Foundation’s Women Empowerment Honey Bee Farming Project Plan Bee selected as a finalists of the BBC World News and Newsweek World Challenge 08.
A committed mother of two successful young adults Gabriela and Hank, she is a dedicated public servant and a passionate philanthropist committed to promote changes that sustain the process of poverty alleviation through education and income-generating projects, which allows individuals to provide for themselves and their family independently.
Her exceptional passion for helping children has been highlighted in various local and international publications. In September 2000, she was distinguished as one of Latin American’s most prominent Humanitarians. In October 2002, she received the national award “Lo Mejor de lo Nuestro por Excellencia” in recognition for her work helping the children of the world.  During the International Women’s Day commemoration in 2005, she was recognized by the organization “Gente de Barrios” for her work for the defense of human right and in pro of democracy in Venezuela.
Cristal is the President of the International Venezuelan Council for Democracy (IVCD) and the International Coordinator of the Venezuelan Resistance Abroad (RECIVEX).  She served on the Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Greater Houston Area American Red Cross Marketing and Communications Committee, Montgomery County Allison Task Force Committee and the City of Houston’s Mayoral Advisory Board for International Affairs and Development for Latin America and the Caribbean (MABIAD – AMERICAS).
